Morawski Receives 2018 APA Award for Distinguished Contributions

Jill Morawski was honored with the American Psychological Association Division 24 Award for Distinguished Theoretical and Philosophical Contributions to Psychology. The award was presented at the annual meetings of the APA at which Professor Morawski delivered an invited address, “Chasing Psychology’s Objects: The Quest for Ontological Certainty.”


Paper Presented at the European Society for the History of the Human Sciences

Jill Morawski presented at the 2018 annual meeting of the European Society for the History of the Human Sciences (ESHHS) held in Groningen, the Netherlands, in July. The paper explored the varying ways psychologists describe psychologists’ psychology: “The Psychologies of Psychology in Times of Crisis: A Comparative Analysis.”


Insight Research Group Presents at the Eastern Psychological Association Meetings

Research team members Jules Chabot, Ruth Chartoff and Alexandra Riedel presented findings from the Insight lab at the March, 2018 annual meeting of the Eastern Psychological Association held in Philadelphia, Pa. Their poster was titled “Dimensional and Dichotomous Understandings: A Historical Analysis of Clinical Insight Scales.”


Psychology of Psychology’s Crisis Presented at Utrecht Workshop

An interdisciplinary workshop on psychology’s replication crisis was convened at Utrecht University in February 2018.  Jill Morawski participated, presenting on “Replication as a Psychological Problem.”


Insight Research Group Presents at Harvard University’s National Collegiate Research Conference.

Research team members Jules Chabot, Ruth Chartoff and Alexandra Riedel presented research at the January, 2018 National Collegiate Research Conference held in Cambridge, MA.  Their poster was titled “Psychological Insight and Change Over Time: A Historical Analysis of Clinical Insight Scales.”


Morawski Recipient of the 2017 Gittler Award

Jill Morawski received the American Psychological Foundation’s 2017 Joseph B. Gittler Award. The annual award recognizes a psychologist who has made and is continuing to make scholarly contributions to the philosophical foundations of Psychology.


Faculty, Students Discuss Stanley Milgram’s Research at Humanities Theory Salon
On Friday, May 9, 2014, the Center for Humanities held its last theory salon for the 2013-2014 academic year. The intimate faculty-student presentation revealed ground-breaking research on the Stanley Milgram “shock” obedience experiment, led by Jill Morawski, the Wilbur Fisk Osborne Professor of Psychology, professor of science in society, professor of feminist, gender and sexuality studies, and assistants Ethan Hoffman ’14 and Nick Myerberg ’14.

Morawski Receives Lifetime Achievement Award from American Psychological Association (2013)
The American Psychological Association’s (APA) Society for the History of Psychology gave Wilbur Fisk Osborne Professor Jill Morawski the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at its annual meeting in Honolulu, HI, from July 31-August 4. The award is presented to individuals who have “made sustained, outstanding, and unusual contributions to the history of psychology over a career.” Graham Richards was also given the award this year.
